KARACHI – A forensic DNA report in the murder case of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl in Karachi’s Quaidabad area has confirmed the presence of DNA from at least three distinct individuals on the victim’s clothing, the police sources revealed on Tuesday.
The forensic update comes as law enforcement continues to broaden its investigation into the incident, which initially involved the collection of DNA samples from 14 individuals, followed by dozens of additional suspects. Initial findings had strongly indicated that the toddler was sexually assaulted prior to being murdered.
Police investigators state that primary suspicion centers on the victim’s aunt and several relatives. According to law enforcement officials, the aunt allegedly killed the child and temporarily hid the body inside a room within the house. The suspects were subsequently unable to dispose of the body undetected, ultimately leaving it outside the residence where it was later discovered.
While the authorities suspect other accomplices may have assisted in the crime, investigators noted that no evidence currently links the aunt’s husband to the murder.
The police operations and further forensic cross-matching remain ongoing as law enforcement works to identify and apprehend all responsible parties.
