The Walking Dead fandom is gearing up for a teary goodbye as new information about the last installment of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon hints that it will be a tragic ending for two of the most popular characters in The Walking Dead universe.
Recently, New York Comic-Con, franchise stars Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride revealed what to expect in the new season, and fans have been speculating about the probable outcome for Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier.
In anticipation of the AMC spinoff’s fourth and final season, a teasing trailer shown during the event paid tribute to the close relationship between Daryl and Carol as seen since the original The Walking Dead days.
Watching the clips brought McBride to tears, sources noted, demonstrating how powerful the actor’s and viewers’ lifelong TV adventure has been.
Filling out the crowded panel at convention, McBride delivered a brutally honest quote that instantly got the wheels turning on fan forums everywhere: “We get to the end of Daryl and Carol.”
And though it’s not clear whether the statement confirms or denies whether the characters will be shattered or separated after years of togetherness, there are definitely plenty of other options. It could be that Carol seeks to establish a new life in Spain while Daryl makes his way back to the United States, to the heavy topics of house, home, and loss for the ultimate season.
What’s Next for the Franchise?
While fans absorb the poignant weight of the poignant finale, momentum is already building for the rest of the Walking Dead universe.
Rumors swirl about possible crossovers-including a much-hyped rendezvous with Rick Grimes, and what Reedus has up his sleeve next.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 4 The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is coming to AMC and AMC+ in February 2027.
