The upcoming 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), set to take place in April-May 2025, will see former Pakistan captains Sarfaraz Ahmed and Shoaib Malik included in the Diamond category. This marks the first time both players will enter the player draft since the inaugural edition.
Sarfaraz Ahmed, who has been with Quetta Gladiators since PSL’s inception in 2016, was recently released by the team. Shoaib Malik, who has represented Karachi Kings for four seasons, will also join the draft for the first time.
Alongside them, national players like Mohammad Nawaz, Aamir Jamal, Abbas Afridi, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Ali, and Mohammad Hasnain are part of the Diamond category.
The category also features international players from countries such as Australia, Afghanistan, England, South Africa, New Zealand, and the West Indies, adding to the mix of emerging and seasoned talent for teams to pick from.
In a significant change, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revised the draft order and categories. The Platinum categories have been reduced from three to two, while the Diamond category now has only one tier.
The Gold and Silver categories have also been adjusted, with Gold now having two tiers and Silver three. Lahore Qalandars will make the first pick in the Platinum 1 category, followed by Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, and Islamabad United.
The PSL 10 player draft will be held on January 13 at Huzuri Bagh in Lahore at 12:30 PM (PST). Originally planned for Gwadar, the event was relocated due to logistical issues. However, Gwadar will still be featured in the PSL 2025 Trophy Tour.
