KARACHI – A family whose two siblings were allegedly subjected to violence by close relative of an SSP in Karachi’s Defence area has reportedly been threatened and pressured to reach a settlement in the case.
The victim family has also moved their belongings from their flat to another location, while DIG South has summoned both parties to his office today to hear their positions.
Meanwhile, the local authorities have decided to conduct a forensic examination of the video footage that surfaced on social media.
Police personnel seen in the video have also been called to the concerned police station for questioning.
The video appeared to show a woman carrying dumbbells while walking down the stairs alongside uniformed police officers.
She was allegedly seen striking a woman standing outside the apartment with a dumbbell.
According to the footage, when the victims attempted to resist, the police personnel allegedly intervened against the victims rather than stopping the woman accused of assault.
A man in plain clothes was also allegedly seen taking an official firearm from a police officer before damaging a CCTV camera.
The woman who was allegedly assaulted said she lived with her mother and brother. She alleged that an influential woman not only subjected them to physical violence but also had both siblings arrested and booked in a case.
The both brother and sister were subsequently granted bail within a few days, according to the victim.
