KARACHI – The judicial commission probing the murder of Mir Raza has vowed to conduct a transparent probe and make every effort to establish the facts surrounding the case.
The commission met under the chairmanship of Justice Umar Sial, who said the proceedings would be open to the public and that no information would be concealed. He said anyone could attend the proceedings and observe the inquiry.
Justice Sial said the commission had 30 days to complete its investigation and would work to reach a conclusion within the stipulated period. He said ensuring transparency and restoring public confidence in institutions were among the commission’s key objectives.
The chairman announced that an advertisement would be issued seeking information from people who may have relevant knowledge about the case. An official email address and WhatsApp number would also be made available for submissions.
A reward of Rs100,000 would be given to anyone providing important information that could help investigators, he said.
The commission directed that a notice be placed at the location where Raza’s body was recovered. The Sindh government was also asked to submit a list of police officers and doctors involved in the case, along with details of all evidence collected so far.
During the proceedings, lawyer Jibran Nasir told the commission that Mir Ali Raza left his home at around 4am on July 28 and was seen alive in CCTV footage recorded at approximately 4:30am.
His body was recovered near Khizra Mosque at around 11:50am on July 29, Nasir said.
He further stated that the FIR was registered about 11 hours after Raza left his home. The post-mortem examination was conducted by Dr Usama in the presence of Raza’s father.
Nasir said the body was recovered following information provided by nursery employees Yasir and Qaiser.
Justice Sial directed the commission to summon the nursery workers, Edhi Foundation volunteers and relevant police officials to record their statements.
The chairman also directed Mir Hussain Ali to provide all available information concerning the first three days of the case. The Sindh government’s focal person assured the commission that the required documents would be submitted.
The commission also summoned investigating officer Siraj Lashari to assist in the inquiry.
The proceedings were adjourned until 11am on Tuesday.
A prayer was offered during the meeting for the forgiveness and eternal peace of Mir Raza.
