KARACHI – Judicial proceedings at the Karachi City Courts were suspended on Friday after lawyers launched a strike to protest the alleged assault of a former member of the Karachi Bar Association’s Managing Committee at Gulbahar Police Station.
The Karachi Bar Association announced that police personnel would not be allowed to enter the City Courts premises as part of the protest.
Lawyers also shut the gates of the City Courts, restricting access to both police officers and litigants, causing significant disruption to court activities.
The strike brought judicial proceedings to a halt, while prisoners scheduled to appear before the courts were not transported from jails due to the suspension of hearings.
The legal community said the protest was aimed at condemning the alleged mistreatment of the former bar official and demanding accountability over the incident.
The court operations remained suspended as lawyers continued their demonstration.
