KARACHI – A police official, who had stopped a son of a woman SSP in Karachi’s Defence Phase 7 some days ago over a fancy number plate, has been removed from his post and transferred.
Reports said SSP South Mazhar Ali transferred Shahzian Shakeel, the in-charge of Qayyumabad Police Chowki, and issued an official notification regarding the change.
Shahzian Shakeel has now been posted to Shaheen Force South.
The move follows a viral video from a few days ago showing a heated exchange between the sub-inspector and the SSP’s son during a snap checking in Defence Phase 7 Extension.
SSP South took notice of the incident and ordered an inquiry, appointing SP Clifton as the investigating officer.
Earlier this month, Karachi’s Defence area witnessed dramatic scenes as a routine snap checking operation spiraled into heated confrontation involving the son of SSP Malir Traffic Naseem Ara Panhwar and the clips of assault on police officers went viral online.
The incident occured during snap checking in DHA Phase 7 Extension, when on-duty officers stopped vehicle. The son of a serving policewoman, however misbehaved with cops.
The young man can be seen losing his temper on the spot, reportedly grabbing a sub-inspector by collar and unleashing a stream of abusive language. The confrontation quickly escalated, with tensions visibly rising between the officers on duty and the occupants of the vehicle.
The stopped vehicle can spotted with police flasher lights and carried a suspicious or potentially fake number plate. Two private guards were also present inside the vehicle, adding another layer of intensity to the already volatile situation. Officers deployed for snap checking can be heard questioning the setup of the vehicle, particularly the alleged misuse of official-style identifiers.
As the confrontation unfolded, video clips circulating online show the suspect physically engaging with police personnel, while exchanging harsh words and refusing to cooperate. The footage has ignited a wave of public criticism and debate over abuse of influence and law enforcement accountability.
DIG South Syed Asad Raza immediately took notice of the viral footage, ordering SSP South to launch a swift and comprehensive investigation into the matter, signaling that the case would not be taken lightly.
Soon after, Karachi Police confirmed that the policewoman’s son was taken into custody and the vehicle involved in the incident was recovered.
A second video reportedly provided by the father of the detained young man, Khubaib began circulating, presenting a different angle of the confrontation. In this footage, Khubaib is seen being stopped by Station House Officer Shazan Shakeel at the Qayyumabad checkpoint. The video captures a heated exchange between the two sides, with both the police officer and vehicle occupants trading sharp and aggressive remarks.
The family claimed that the police officer allegedly grabbed the vehicle’s door, attempted to force it open, and even tried to remove the car keys, allegations that add a new twist to an already controversial incident.
