Remodeling of Bhatti Chowk: Illegal buildings razed outside Data Darbar – Pakistan Observer

LAHORE – The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Wednesday demolished illegal constructions on state land outside Data Darbar for the extension and remodelling of Bhaati Chowk.

About 16-kanal land owned by the Auqaf Department and Municipal Corporation (MCL) outside Data Darbar is part of the extension project. Several shops had been built on this state land.

Joint teams of LDA, MCL, Auqaf Department and the enforcement wing of the Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA) demolished illegal shops built on the state land to facilitate the mega project. These teams carried out the demolition operation with the assistance of the Police and heavy machinery.

LDA Director General Tahir Farooq visited the site after the operation and directed clearing the debris immediately to facilitate the early start of work on the extension and remodelling project aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing traffic congestion.

Construction of modern dust-free sitting areas for visitors, subways for pedestrian crossings, and pedestrian zones are also part of the project. The buildings adjacent to Data Darbar and the Metro Bus area will be renovated and beautified.
