{"id":9761,"date":"2023-10-01T17:23:05","date_gmt":"2023-10-01T17:23:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/iran-slams-normalisation-with-israel-as-reactionary\/"},"modified":"2023-10-01T17:23:05","modified_gmt":"2023-10-01T17:23:05","slug":"iran-slams-normalisation-with-israel-as-reactionary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/iran-slams-normalisation-with-israel-as-reactionary\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran slams normalisation with Israel as \u2018reactionary\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Sunday denounced any attempts by regional countries to normalise relations with its arch-enemy Israel as \u201creactionary and regressive\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The remarks came amid ongoing US-brokered negotiations between Israel and Saudi Arabia to establish formal ties, with the United States saying on Friday that the two countries are moving towards the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1778699\">outline of a deal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNormalising relations with the Zionist regime is a reactionary and regressive move by any government in the Islamic world,\u201d Raisi said during an international Islamic conference held in Tehran.<\/p>\n<p>An Israeli delegation is expected in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, days after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1777994\">first official visit<\/a> by an Israeli minister to the kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>Saudi Arabia also sent a delegation to the occupied West Bank on Wednesday for the first time in three decades in a bid to reassure the Palestinians ahead of the prospective deal.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media  sm:w-1\/2  w-full  media--right  media--embed  media--uneven\">\n<p>    <iframe class=\"nk-iframe\" onload=\"setInterval(()=&gt;{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)\" width=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"height:400px;position:relative\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/card\/1777641\" sandbox=\"allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-popups allow-modals allow-forms\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Raisi on Sunday further labelled any normalisation attempt as the \u201cforeigners\u2019 desire\u201d, while stating that \u201csurrender and compromise\u201d regarding Israel were not on the table.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe only option for all the fighters in the occupied land and the Islamic world is to resist and stand against the enemies,\u201d he said, reiterating Iran\u2019s position that Jerusalem must be \u201cliberated\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In 1967 Israel occupied and then annexed east Jerusalem, which the Palestinians see as the future capital of their proposed state.<\/p>\n<p>An agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia would follow the US-brokered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1579852\">Abraham Accords<\/a> which saw Israel establish diplomatic relations in 2020 with three Arab countries.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Raisi <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1777217\">said<\/a> any \u201crelationships between regional countries and the Zionist regime would be a stab in the back of the Palestinians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Iran and Saudi Arabia, two regional powerhouses, resumed relations, severed since 2016, under a China-brokered deal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1741433\">announced in March<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Sunday denounced any attempts by regional countries to normalise relations with its arch-enemy Israel as \u201creactionary and regressive\u201d.
