ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, Imran Khan has challenged the Lahore High Court (LHC) verdict pertaining rejection of post-arrest bail in cases related to the May 9 riots, ARY News reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As per details, the plea was filed in Supreme Court against the Lahore High Court verdict in May 9 cases.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC) rejected post-arrest bail petitions of incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, Imran Khan, in eight cases related to the May 9 riots.<\/p>\n

A division bench of the LHC, headed by Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi, announced the verdict.<\/p>\n

The bail petitions pertain to eight separate cases, including attacks on Jinnah House, Askari Tower case and Shadman Police Station arson attack.<\/p>\n

Prior to this, an anti-terrorism court had dismissed the PTI founder\u2019s bail applications in all these cases, prompting the appeals in the high court.<\/p>\n

During proceedings in LHC, a prosecutor had told the court that the PTI founder directed party leaders and workers to attack military installations.<\/p>\n

It is pertinent to mention that the PTI founder is named as main accused in all the May 9 riots cases.<\/p>\n

May 9 violence<\/strong><\/p>\n

Violent clashes were broken out across Pakistan after former prime minister Imran Khan was arrested on May 9, 2023.<\/p>\n

The protests were held in remote and major cities as the party workers were agitated due to their chairman\u2019s arrest, with Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad summoning the armed forces to ensure law and order.<\/p>\n

Army installations, including Corps Commander\u2019s house in Lahore, had come under attack during the protests by PTI workers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
