WASHINGTON, D.C., July 22, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The United States Mint (Mint) will open sales for rolls and bags containing the fourth and final American Innovation $1 Coin of 2025 on July 29 at noon ET. \u00a0<\/p>\n

The reverse (tails) design of the coins in these products honors the innovation of Mission Control at the Johnson Space Center in Texas.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am pleased to announce the release of the American Innovation $1 Coin for the State of Texas,\u201d said Kristie McNally, Acting Director of the Mint.\u00a0 \u201cThis coin recognizes Texas\u2019 vital role in advancing America\u2019s leadership in space exploration. \u00a0From guiding astronauts from Mission Control to shaping the future of science and technology, Texas has been at the heart of some of our nation\u2019s greatest space achievements.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSince its very inception, NASA\u2019s Johnson Space Center in Houston has been the epicenter for manned spaceflight, propelling Texas as the national leader in the space industry,\u201d said Texas Governor Greg Abbott.\u00a0 \u201cThe featured design of an American astronaut with the International Space Station in the background truly commemorates Texas\u2019 critical role in the space program.\u00a0 Texas is the launchpad to Mars, and we\u2019re proud that this coin captures the spirit of innovation and exploration that reflects Texas\u2019 pioneering roots.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Texas American Innovation $1 Coin reverse (tails) design features an American astronaut conducting a spacewalk outside the International Space Station.\u00a0 The image represents the culmination of the Mission Control Center\u2019s economic, logistical, and intellectual support for NASA\u2019s human space program, as well as its support of astronauts from the many countries that participate in the International Space Station program.\u00a0 Included inscriptions are \u201cUNITED STATES OF AMERICA\u201d and \u201cTEXAS.\u201d\u00a0 Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) Designer Ron Sanders<\/a> created the reverse design, and Mint Medallic Artist John P. McGraw<\/a> sculpted it.<\/p>\n

The obverse (heads) design of all coins in the American Innovation $1 Coin Program features a dramatic representation of the Statue of Liberty in profile with the inscriptions \u201cIN GOD WE TRUST\u201d and \u201c$1.\u201d\u00a0 The design also includes a privy mark of a stylized gear, representing industry and innovation.\u00a0 Mint AIP Designer Justin Kunz<\/a> created the obverse design, and Mint Medallic Artist Phebe Hemphill<\/a> sculpted it.<\/p>\n

Incused on the coin\u2019s edge are \u201c2025,\u201d the mint mark (\u201cP” or “D\u201d), and \u201cE PLURIBUS UNUM.\u201d<\/p>\n

Introduced in 2018, the American Innovation $1 Coin Program<\/a> is a multi-year series, featuring distinctive reverse designs that pay homage to America\u2019s ingenuity and celebrate the pioneering efforts of individuals or groups from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Territories.<\/p>\n
