Their relationship soured following Musk\u2019s tenure as head of the \u201cDepartment of Government Efficiency\u201d (DOGE), where he advocated for aggressive federal budget cuts and job reductions.<\/p>\n<p>Musk has been an outspoken critic of the current administration\u2019s expansive domestic spending policies, warning that such financial strategies would drive the national debt to unsustainable levels. He pledged to politically oppose any lawmakers who supported the spending plan.<\/p>\n<p>As part of this new political direction, Musk introduced the \u201cAmerica Party\u201d \u2014 a platform he says is designed to restore individual freedom and accountability in governance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen it comes to bankrupting our country through waste and corruption, we\u2019re no longer living in a democracy, but under a one-party rule,\u201d Musk posted. \u201cThe America Party has been formed today to return freedom to the people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also referenced a poll he conducted on July 4th \u2014 U.S. Independence Day \u2014 asking users whether they desired independence from the long-standing two-party system.
