Hollywood A-lister\u00a0Charlize Theron opened up on the possibility of \u2018The Old Guard\u2019<\/em> trilogy, as the sequel to her superhero film arrives on Netflix.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In a new interview, to talk about the filmmaker Victoria Mahoney-helmed sequel, Charlize Theron was asked about the possibility of \u2018The Old Guard\u2019<\/em> threequel, to complete the superhero trilogy.<\/p>\n

\u201cNever confident, no,\u201d Theron responded. \u201cOne thing I\u2019ve learned in this business is that there are no guarantees, and it\u2019s really gracious of [Netflix] to not have pushed us into another direction.\u201d<\/p>\n

Further speaking about the latest release, the \u2018Bombshell\u2019<\/em> actor added, \u201cThis was always where we wanted to land the film, and it\u2019s also very reminiscent of the first one. So we treated this one exactly the same.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I\u2019m being completely honest when I say that we have absolutely no idea what that [third film] would even look like,\u201d she maintained.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, when asked from Victoria Mahoney, \u2018The Old Guard 2\u2019<\/em> director confirmed that she will not return for a threequel, even if the next film gets made. \u201cI\u2019m not in the room. I\u2019m not in that discussion of whether there will be another or not,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe duration of this film took me [away] from other projects I have, so I am legally obliged to some other projects. So, I will be for the next six, seven years, on some other jobs,\u201d Mahoney reasoned. \u201cSomeone else will take that mantle in a wonderful, exciting way, and I don\u2019t know what they\u2019re gonna do, but I know it\u2019ll be great, and it\u2019ll be fun, and it will be with great regard and care for the audience, and I will be eagerly awaiting it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018The Old Guard\u2019<\/em> sequel, co-starring Theron with KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Matthias Schoenaerts, V\u00e2n Veronica Ng\u00f4, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Uma Thurman and Henry Golding, is now streaming on Netflix.<\/p>\n
