ISLAMABAD \u2013 The federal government has decided to withdraw the recent increase in passenger bus fares in the federal capital, Islamabad.<\/p>\n

Reports said Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which they discussed welfare projects in Islamabad and measures to improve public facilities.<\/p>\n

The prime minister directed the withdrawal of the hike in fare of metro bus and other transport in Islamabad.<\/p>\n

Following the prime minister\u2019s instructions, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi took immediate action and directed that the increase in transport fares in Islamabad be withdrawn immediately.<\/p>\n

Instructions have been given to issue the notification to withdraw the fare increase tonight.<\/p>\n

The prime minister said that increasing fares before Eid-ul-Adha is akin to dimming the joy of Eid for the people.<\/p>\n

It is recalled that the Capital Development Authority had announced increasing the bus fare from Rs50 to Rs100 with effect from June 1, 2025.<\/p>\n

Earlier, officials had said the fare revision was inevitable due to rising operational costs, increased fuel prices, and the need to maintain service quality.<\/p>\n

Public reaction has been mixed with some citizens called the fare hike an economic burden, while others viewed it as a necessary step for improved facilities. Authorities had appealed to the public for cooperation.<\/p>\n
