{"id":94098,"date":"2025-05-17T22:01:12","date_gmt":"2025-05-17T22:01:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/rcb-seals-building-for-defaulting-on-tax-with-people-inside-the-express-tribune\/"},"modified":"2025-05-17T22:01:12","modified_gmt":"2025-05-17T22:01:12","slug":"rcb-seals-building-for-defaulting-on-tax-with-people-inside-the-express-tribune","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/rcb-seals-building-for-defaulting-on-tax-with-people-inside-the-express-tribune\/","title":{"rendered":"RCB seals building for defaulting on tax with people inside | The Express Tribune"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"\">\n                                                                                                                                                                                                         <strong class=\"location-names\"><br \/>\n                                        RAWALPINDI:<\/p>\n<p>        <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During a tax recovery operation, the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) sealed a building on Range Road despite the presence of civilians, bank staff and women exercising in a gym.<\/p>\n<p>According to sources, the private building \u2014 housing a bank and a gym on separate floors \u2014 had defaulted on its property tax.<\/p>\n<p>The building owner had requested a one-day grace period to clear the dues, but the recovery team, led by a lower division clerk (LDC), refused.<\/p>\n<p>Sources said instead of allowing time, the team sealed the building from the outside, locking in customers and employees inside the bank as well as women inside the gym.<\/p>\n<p>Eyewitnesses reported that the women and civilians were not allowed to exit the building, causing concern among locals.<\/p>\n<p>The building owner and some residents rushed to the cantonment board office to report the incident.<\/p>\n<p>In response, Additional CEO Haider Shuja intervened, ordered the building to be unsealed immediately, and ensured those inside were safely evacuated.<\/p>\n<p>Following the incident, the LDC was suspended and officially charge-sheeted for misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>The cantonment board has initiated departmental proceedings against him.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RAWALPINDI: During a tax recovery operation, the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) sealed a building on Range Road despite the presence of civilians, bank staff and women exercising in a gym.
