Humai, Chagai \u2013 May 2, 2025:<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a major boost for healthcare in remote Balochistan, Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMC), in partnership with the Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), has launched a state-of-the-art Mother, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Unit at the Community Health Center in Humai village, Chagai district.<\/p>\n

This collaboration marks a significant step toward improving maternal and child health services in the underserved region surrounding the Reko Diq project. The newly launched MNCH Unit will offer round-the-clock, midwife-led delivery care, with support from female medical officers for obstetric emergencies. The facility includes a safe delivery suite, neonatal care, postpartum services, family planning, and immunization, along with community-based maternal health education.<\/p>\n

Ryan Mitchell, General Manager of RDMC, highlighted the importance of integrating healthcare with responsible mining. \u201cOur goal is to uplift the communities around us. Nothing matters more than ensuring mothers and children receive the care they need. This unit is a vital investment in their future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Humai health center already delivers a wide range of medical services including outpatient consultations, chronic disease care, emergency response, vaccinations, diagnostics, and an essential medicines pharmacy. With over 5,200 consultations, 13,000 individuals reached through health awareness, and hundreds of diagnostic tests already conducted, the new MNCH services strengthen an already impactful healthcare model.<\/p>\n

The launch ceremony saw the presence of RDMC\u2019s senior sustainability and community engagement leadership, including Ashley Price, Muhammad Essa Tahir, Hafeez Ullah, and Gul Baloch, alongside IHHN\u2019s Shir Jan Baloch and local community representatives.<\/p>\n
