{"id":91859,"date":"2025-03-19T23:10:46","date_gmt":"2025-03-19T23:10:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/nowshera-asi-killed-in-accident-after-gun-attack-on-vehicle-police\/"},"modified":"2025-03-19T23:10:46","modified_gmt":"2025-03-19T23:10:46","slug":"nowshera-asi-killed-in-accident-after-gun-attack-on-vehicle-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/nowshera-asi-killed-in-accident-after-gun-attack-on-vehicle-police\/","title":{"rendered":"Nowshera ASI killed in accident after gun attack on vehicle: police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was killed in a traffic accident after unidentified men opened fire at his vehicle in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s Nowshera district, police said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Kholan Station House Officer (SHO) Jamshed Khattak told <em>Dawn.com<\/em> that the incident took place when ASI Mohammad Ilyas was returning home from his duty at Nowshera Cantt Police Station early this morning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs soon as he reached the army farm area near Nowshera, [the attackers] mercilessly fired gunshots at him,\u201d the SHO said. \u201cDue to the intensity of the firing, ASI Ilyas Khan lost control of his vehicle and drove into a ditch.\u201d Khattak added that the ASI instantly died at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>The SHO said that the body was moved to a nearby hospital for legal action, though panic had spread in the area after the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is not yet clear whether the incident was a terrorist incident or an attempt at theft,\u201d he said, adding that an investigation was underway and a search operation had been launched in the area to apprehend the suspects.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral prayers were offered for the deceased policeman in Nowshera, according to a post on the police\u2019s Facebook page.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fdistrictnowsherapolice%2Fposts%2Fpfbid0imGKejAC9mTQeudScZDFEoR53CmTgjYdYGV4jY7kLgSXwrmJkHo3uza1MgCR7GQLl&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"250\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>According to the post, a large number of police personnel, district administration officials, military personnel and local dignitaries were in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the funeral prayers, the body of the martyred officer was sent to his native area of \u200b\u200bKheshgi Payan,\u201d the post read. \u201cHe will be buried there with full official honours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was later buried in his village after funeral proceedings.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fdistrictnowsherapolice%2Fposts%2Fpfbid02him87E8tQRbEEFmqvgCtaPXhZ7b7LMryn2o5Dy7njpGTw7GF5D6BD9GRkvjc7MNBl&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"754\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1898473\/attacks-on-police-in-kps-peshawar-lakki-marwat-foiled\">attacks on police stations<\/a> in KP\u2019s Lakki Marwat and Peshawar districts were repelled, with authorities on Monday confirming a grenade attack on Peshawar\u2019s Malazai area and an attack on Gambila police station in Lakki Marwat carried out by up to 16 attackers.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was killed in a traffic accident after unidentified men opened fire at his vehicle in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s Nowshera district, police said on Wednesday.
