{"id":9169,"date":"2023-09-29T19:47:06","date_gmt":"2023-09-29T19:47:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/soldier-martyred-terrorist-ringleader-killed-in-2-kp-military-engagements-ispr\/"},"modified":"2023-09-29T19:47:06","modified_gmt":"2023-09-29T19:47:06","slug":"soldier-martyred-terrorist-ringleader-killed-in-2-kp-military-engagements-ispr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/soldier-martyred-terrorist-ringleader-killed-in-2-kp-military-engagements-ispr\/","title":{"rendered":"Soldier martyred, terrorist ringleader killed in 2 KP military engagements: ISPR"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>A soldier was martyred while a wanted terrorist was killed in separate military operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s Kurram and Mardan districts, according to a press release from the military\u2019s media wing on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release said two engagements took place between security forces and terrorists in the province on the night between Thursday and Friday.<\/p>\n<p>An intelligence-based operation was conducted in Mardan district\u2019s general area of Katlang, resulting in the killing of a \u201chigh-value target, terrorist ringleader Faisal\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The ISPR added he was actively involved in numerous terrorist activities and was \u201chighly wanted by law enforcement agencies\u201d. It said weapons and ammunition were also recovered from him.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, 33-year-old Lance Naik Ghairat Khan, resident of Kurram district, was martyred in an encounter with terrorists in the district\u2019s general area Parachinar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecurity forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,\u201d the ISPR said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media  sm:w-1\/2  w-full  media--right  media--embed  media--uneven\">\n<p>    <iframe class=\"nk-iframe\" onload=\"setInterval(()=&gt;{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)\" width=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"height:400px;position:relative\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/card\/1778511\" sandbox=\"allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-popups allow-modals allow-forms\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Earlier in the day, terrorist attacks in Balochistan\u2019s Mastung district and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1778538\/uat-least-4-killed-12-wounded-in-twin-blasts-targeting-police-station-in-kps-hangu-policee\">KP\u2019s Hangu<\/a> collectively claimed the lives of at least 58 people.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, four Pakistan Army soldiers were also martyred during an operation in Zhob \u2014 which is located at a five-hour distance from Mastung \u2014 as security forces thwarted an infiltration attempt of banned militant Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists from Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan has witnessed an uptick in terror activities in recent months, especially in KP and Balochistan, after the TTP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1723647\">ended<\/a> its ceasefire with the government in November last year.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1762682\">report<\/a> released in July by the think tank Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies said the first half of the current year witnessed a steady and alarming rise in terror and suicide attacks, claiming the lives of 389 people across the country.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A soldier was martyred while a wanted terrorist was killed in separate military operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s Kurram and Mardan districts, according to a press release from the military\u2019s media wing on Friday.
