ISLAMABAD\u2014President of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) Dominique Pradali\u00e9 held a meeting with the Ambassador of France in Pakistan, Mr Nicolas Galey, to discuss the current Pakistani media landscape, including developments in the legal framework in this regard.<\/p>\n

The IFJ president was also accompanied by the Secretary General of the PFUJ, Shakeel Ahmed, and Dr Furqan Rao, a prominent media person and member of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).<\/p>\n

Ms Pradali\u00e9 emphasized the importance of upholding freedom of expression and press freedom, as enshrined in Pakistan\u2019s Constitution and international conventions to which Pakistan is a party.<\/p>\n

She also expressed her gratitude to Ambassador Galey for the French authorities\u2019 support in helping Afghan journalists continue their crucial work. This included facilitating the issuance of visas and collaborating to build journalists\u2019 capacities through training programs\/workshops in partnership with the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and the IFJ.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Galey reiterated France\u2019s commitment to press freedom worldwide, stating that it is an essential pillar of democracy.<\/p>\n

Mr. Shakeel Ahmed, Secretary General of the PFUJ, attended the meeting and underscored the significance of such collaborations in strengthening journalistic standards and protecting media freedoms in the region.<\/p>\n
