This always happens. I mean, it happens every couple years \u2014 ever since Endgame. I\u2019ve just stopped responding to it. Yeah, no \u2014 happily retired!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Evans first appeared as Steve Rogers\/Captain America in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) and played the role across multiple films before officially retiring from the character after Avengers: Endgame (2019).<\/p>\n<p>His longtime co-star, Anthony Mackie, who plays Sam Wilson\/Falcon, now carries the Captain America mantle. Mackie\u2019s Captain America: Brave New World is set to release on February 14, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about Evans\u2019 potential return, Mackie admitted he had no idea, saying, \u201cI didn\u2019t know! I talked to Chris a few weeks ago and it wasn\u2019t on the table then.\u201d He added, \u201cI was like, \u2018You know, they said they\u2019re bringing everyone back for the movie.
