MULTAN: Pakistan suffered a crushing 120-run defeat against the West Indies in the second Test of their two-match series on Monday. Chasing a target of 254, Pakistan\u2019s batting lineup faltered, managing only 133 runs in 44 overs.<\/p>\n

West Indies\u2019 left-arm spinner, Jomel Warrican, put on a match-winning performance, taking 5 wickets for just 27 runs in Pakistan\u2019s second innings. With figures of 4\/43 in the first innings, Warrican ended the match with exceptional bowling figures of 9\/70, proving to be a major factor in Pakistan\u2019s downfall.<\/p>\n

This defeat marked Pakistan\u2019s first home Test loss to the West Indies in 35 years and dropped them to the bottom of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points table. Pakistan finished their WTC cycle with just five wins in 14 matches, earning a Points Percentage (PCT) of 27.98.<\/p>\n

The West Indies, despite their victory, concluded the WTC cycle in 8th place with a PCT of 28.21. Their record for the cycle includes three wins, two draws, and eight losses in 13 matches.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, South Africa is set to finish at the top of the WTC 2023-25 table with a PCT of 69.44, while Australia, second with a PCT of 66.67, is preparing for a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka starting January 29. Sri Lanka\u2019s performance in this series could impact the standings, as they are in a tight race with India and England.<\/p>\n
