At the closing session of the 7th National Maritime Security Workshop, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that Pakistan is paying a heavy price due to terrorism. He expressed that the country\u2019s officers and soldiers are sacrificing their lives for the future of the people.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister emphasized that the Pakistan Navy is ensuring the protection of maritime boundaries and possesses the full capability to tackle challenges in this regard.<\/p>\n

He also stressed the importance of the Blue Economy, noting that it is central to Pakistan\u2019s economic future. The Navy is taking various measures to make the most of maritime resources, he added.<\/p>\n

Further, the Prime Minister mentioned that China is ready to offer cooperation in the maritime sector, and that the development of the Blue Economy is essential for Pakistan\u2019s growth and prosperity.<\/p>\n

He also acknowledged the strategic importance of the Gwadar port in Pakistan\u2019s economic development.<\/p>\n

Reaffirming his commitment to combating terrorism, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that both the government and the armed forces are determined to eradicate terrorism, as was achieved in 2018. However, he noted that, unfortunately, terrorism has resurfaced.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister shared that 80,000 people lost their lives in the fight against terrorism, and the economy suffered a loss of $13 billion. He asserted that Pakistan will not rest until terrorism is completely eradicated.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also stressed the need to review and improve the operations of Pakistan Shipping Corporation and Karachi Port Trust, emphasizing that Karachi Port Trust\u2019s primary role is to facilitate business, not engage in real estate.<\/p>\n

He praised Pakistan\u2019s vast natural resources and talent, acknowledging that despite the country\u2019s wealth, it is burdened with debt. He further highlighted Saudi Arabia\u2019s extension of a $3 billion loan repayment, which has provided significant relief to the government.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister urged the nation to focus on its true priorities, learn from past mistakes, and move forward with determination. He concluded by saying that Pakistan\u2019s progress and prosperity can only be achieved if efforts are unified and actions are taken with resolve.<\/p>\n
