LAHORE \u2013 Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has issued an emergency alert for citizens in Lahore due to the increasing smog and appealed for implementation of safety measures.<\/p>\n

She has advised citizens to wear masks while going outdoors, adding that\u00a0 children, elderly citizens, and individuals with heart and respiratory conditions should avoid going outdoors.<\/p>\n

She said that the smog level in Lahore is increasing as strong winds are bringing pollution from Indian cities such as Delhi, Amritsar, and Chandigarh.<\/p>\n

Marriyum Aurangzeb warned that stern action will be taken against those who burn crop residues and smoke emitting vehicles will be impounded.<\/p>\n

Citizens can report environmental violations by calling \u20181373\u2019 or through the \u2018Green App.\u2019<\/p>\n

The alert comes as the capital city of Punjab was again declared the most polluted city in the world, as per live cities rankings issued by IQAir.<\/p>\n

The online portals shows that the air quality of the city has dropped to hazardous level as it recorded 347 US AQI.<\/p>\n
