{"id":86106,"date":"2024-10-19T22:01:04","date_gmt":"2024-10-19T22:01:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/constitutional-amendments-presentation-deferred-till-sunday\/"},"modified":"2024-10-19T22:01:04","modified_gmt":"2024-10-19T22:01:04","slug":"constitutional-amendments-presentation-deferred-till-sunday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/constitutional-amendments-presentation-deferred-till-sunday\/","title":{"rendered":"Constitutional amendments presentation deferred till Sunday"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>ISLAMABAD: After a series of meetings at Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman\u2019s residence in Islamabad and delayed starts of the National Assembly and Senate sessions, the constitutional amendments could not be presented in the parliament as the matter is deferred to Sunday, ARY News reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Maulana Fazlur Rehman\u2019s residence remained the centre of attention throughout Saturday as it was visited by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, heads of different political parties including Pakistan People\u2019s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Balochistan National Party (Mengal) head Akhtar Mengal.<\/p>\n<p>The National Assembly sitting that was started after hours-long delay lasted for a few minutes while the Senate session commenced after a delay of around three hours from its scheduled time amid the absence of the government\u2019s some lawmakers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Will wait for PTI\u2019s response until Sunday\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to newsmen along with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari after their meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that they will wait for the PTI\u2019s reply till Sunday before presenting the constitutional amendments in the parliament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe PTI leadership met their founder on Saturday and conveyed his message to me,\u201d Maulana Fazlur Rehman said. He said that the PTI is expected to apprise about its decision on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will wait until tomorrow and inform the nation about the situation that unfolds,\u201d Maulana Fazlur Rehman said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fazlur Rehman will convince PTI, hopes Bilawal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the occasion, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed confidence that Maulana Fazlur Rehman will convince the PTI to support the constitutional amendments.<\/p>\n<p>Bilawal said the objections raised by PTI have been addressed and are no more part of the constitutional amendments.<\/p>\n<p>He hoped that the agreed-upon draft will be presented in the assembly by Maulana Fazlur Rehman himself. Bilawal stressed the importance of consensus among all parties, stating that he desires constitutional amendments be passed through mutual agreement.<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"ast-oembed-container \" style=\"height: 100%;\"><iframe title=\"\ud83d\udd34LIVE | Constitutional Amendment - Bilawal Bhutto, Fazal Ur Reman&#039;s Press Conference | ARY News Live\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/25VFo0ESWbE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018PTI will not vote on constitutional amendments\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) expressed concerns that two of its senators may vote in favor of constitutional amendments against the party\u2019s policy.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued here, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan said that it was learnt that the party\u2019s two senators Zarqa Taimur and Faisal Saleem would vote against the party policy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think our two senators Zarqa Taimur and Faisal Salim are going to vote against the party policy,\u201d Barrister Gohar Ali said.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier addressing a presser in Islamabad, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that no progress could be made without Imran Khan\u2019s \u2018clear\u2019 directives on the constitutional amendments.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the party will not vote for the passage of the constitutional amendments, reiterated their thier commitment to following Imran Khan\u2019s directives on constitutional amendment.
