Actor Yerin Ha, set to portray the love interest of Benedict in season four of \u201cBridgerton,\u201d has revealed a change in the last name of her character Sophia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Netflix had revealed that the upcoming season will follow the second-eldest Bridgerton sibling following season three\u2019s love story between Colin Bridgerton, played by Luke Newton and Penelope Featherington, essayed by actress Nicola Coughlan.<\/p>\n

According to the the official logline for \u2018Bridgerton\u2019 season 4, \u201cThe fourth season of \u2018Bridgerton\u2019 turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict. Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down \u2014 until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother\u2019s masquerade ball.\u201d<\/p>\n

Based on Julia Quinn\u2019s third \u2018Bridgerton<\/a>\u2019 novel titled \u201cAn Offer From a Gentleman,\u201d season four of the show would have seen Yerin Ha\u2019s character named Sophie Beckett.<\/p>\n

However, Netflix later revealed that the actress\u2019s character will be named Sophie Baek.<\/p>\n

Ha has now explained the reason behind showrunner Jess Brownell\u2019s decision to change her character\u2019s last name.<\/p>\n

According to the actress, the showrunner gave her character the Korean last name of Baek, out of respect for her culture.<\/p>\n

\u201cA name is the first bit of identity that you share with the world, and that\u2019s why changing a name can be so powerful,\u201d Yerin Ha said. \u201cTo make Sophie\u2019s name fit someone who looks like me is really empowering. All credit to Jess Brownell, our showrunner.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress, who is Korean and from Australia, maintained that the change in the last name made her feel more connected to the character of Sophia.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a really nice way for me to feel like the role is fit for me, rather than me having to fit a certain mold. It\u2019s amazing what it can do just in a psychological sense. So it means a lot that Jess did that for me,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
