Hollywood star Will Smith has opted out of his co-starring role in the upcoming action movie \u201cSugar Bandits,\u201d directed by Stefano Sollim.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to US media outlets, the \u201cBad Boys\u201d actor quit the movie due to a scheduling conflict, leading to a halt in the shooting of the movie.<\/p>\n

However, his production company Westbrook will remain producers on the big-budget \u2018Sugar Bandits.\u2019<\/p>\n

The upcoming action-packed movie would have seen the Hollywood star playing the role a former special forces soldier who runs an elite vigilante squad working to wipe out the drug trade in Boston.<\/p>\n

Stefano Sollima, who has directed \u201cWithout Remorse\u201d and \u201cSicario: Day of the Soldado,\u201d was taken on board to direct the movie earlier this year while shooting for the movie was set to begin in the coming months.<\/p>\n

Based on the screenplay and novel \u201cDevils In Exile\u201d by Chuck Hogan, casting for the action film had been done while it was in pre-production ahead of an anticipated shoot in Montreal.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, reports said that Westbrook is seeking to re-cast Will Smith\u2019s role and plans to make \u2018Sugar Bandits\u2019 in 2025.<\/p>\n

However, the Oscar-winning actor\u2019s abrupt decision to opt out of the movie left a question mark over the film\u2019s outlook.<\/p>\n

Will Smith made a box office comeback with the recently released \u201cBad Boys: Ride or Die<\/a>,\u201d which generated more than $400 million in theatres worldwide.<\/p>\n

The film was his first following the infamous Oscars slap as \u2018Bad Boys: Ride or Die\u2019 debuted atop the North American box office.<\/p>\n

Sony\u2019s fourth instalment of the action comedy series was a major boost in Smith\u2019s career rehabilitation after he slapped Chris Rock at the Academy Awards in 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
