A university student lost his life in a gun battle against two robbers near New Sabzi Mandi on Superhighway in Karachi<\/a>. The incident took place on the early hours of Wednesday. During the entire incident, the student managed to kill both of the suspected robbers.<\/p>\n

Whereas, on Wednesday, another incident happened, where another citizen shot dead a suspected robber in Korangi.<\/p>\n

According to the police report, Sheikh Muhammad Nihal, 22, and his uncle Sheikh Muhammad Ayaz were returning from their home in North Nazimabad on a motorcycle after attending a dinner late on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

SITE-Superhighway SHO Zulfiqar Bhangwar said that they were stopped by two armed men, who were also riding a motorcycle, near Jamali Pul. However, Sheikh Nihar, who possessed a licensed pistol, took his weapon out and started shooting. The muggers also opened firing. The muggers also opened fire and in an exchange of gunfire two suspects and Nihal and his uncle suffered bullet injuries.<\/p>\n

The police said that both the suspects and Nihal died on the spot. The bodies of the dead and the injured were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors said that the condition of Sheikh Ayaz was stable as he sustained bullet injury in the hand.<\/p>\n

It is to be added that, Nihal was a student at the department of the architecture of Nazeer Husain University<\/a>. He was the only son of his parents.<\/p>\n

Later in the day, his funeral prayers were offered at the local mosque in North Nazimabad amid moving scenes.<\/p>\n

Several people attended the funeral and extended condolences to the bereaved family. Among which, Leader of Opposition in the Sindh Assembly, Ali Khurshidi, who also attended the funeral, expressed concern over surge in killings by armed robbers.<\/p>\n

He made a demand to the governor and other authorities to take strict action to control the growing rate of street crime in Karachi.<\/p>\n

Till date, 68 citizens have been shot dead by robbers in Karachi during the first five months of the current year. However, the police claimed that the number of people killed by robbers stood at 52.<\/p>\n
