ISLAMABAD \u2013 Heatwave will likely persist in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan on Monday and Tuesday. In twin cities, day temperatures will remain 03 to 05\u00b0C above normal levels.<\/p>\n

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. High pressure prevails in the upper atmosphere, which will likely persist till May 27. A shallow westerly wave also prevails over northern parts of the country.<\/p>\n

Under these conditions, heatwaves will persist in the twin cities and most parts of the country on Monday and Tuesday. Day temperatures will remain 03 to 05\u00b0C above normal levels in the twin cities, 06 to 08\u00b0C above normal in Punjab and Sindh and 04 to 06\u00b0C above normal elsewhere in the country. Gusty\/dust-raising winds are likely during the afternoon. However, rains are likely at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan during the period.<\/p>\n

Islamabad\u2019s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 39-41\u00b0C on Monday and 40-42\u00b0C on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Rawalpindi\u2019s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 40-42\u00b0C on Monday and Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, heatwaves prevailed in most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. However, light rain-wind\/thunderstorms occurred in Gilgit-Baltistan.<\/p>\n

Mohenjo-Daro and Dadu remained the hottest places in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 50\u00b0C. Maximum temperature in Jacobabad was recorded at 49\u00b0C, Shaheed Benazirabad, Padidan, Sibbi, Larkana, Rohri, Sukkur and Turbat at 48\u00b0C, Bahawalpur, Khairpur and Sakrand at 47\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 40\u00b0C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 43 per cent.<\/p>\n

In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 39\u00b0C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 20 per cent.<\/p>\n
