{"id":79700,"date":"2024-05-06T20:59:05","date_gmt":"2024-05-06T20:59:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/shaheen-afridi-among-nominees-of-icc-mens-player-of-the-month\/"},"modified":"2024-05-06T20:59:05","modified_gmt":"2024-05-06T20:59:05","slug":"shaheen-afridi-among-nominees-of-icc-mens-player-of-the-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/shaheen-afridi-among-nominees-of-icc-mens-player-of-the-month\/","title":{"rendered":"Shaheen Afridi among nominees of ICC Men\u2019s Player of the Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Shaheen Afridi is nominated for ICC Men\u2019s Player of the Month.<\/li>\n<li>He\u2019s up against Gerhard Erasmusand Muhammad Waseem.<\/li>\n<li>Namibia\u2019s captain shone in their Oman tour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pakistan\u2019s leading fast bowler, Shaheen Afridi, has been listed among the nominees for the ICC Men\u2019s Player of the Month for April 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Gerhard Erasmus from Namibia and Muhammad Waseem from the UAE are also contenders for the award.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bolnews.com\/sports\/2024\/04\/dont-test-my-patience-says-shaheen-afridi-following-pakistans-captaincy-chaos\/\">Shaheen\u2019s<\/a> nomination comes on the back of his remarkable performance in the recently concluded T20I series against New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Pakistan pace spearhead showed some excellent signs on the eve of the ICC Men\u2019s T20 World Cup as he finished as the leading wicket-taker in his side\u2019s T20I series against New Zealand last month,\u201d the ICC announced in a press release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShaheen picked up the only wicket in the rain-affected opening match of the series with the Kiwis and then followed that up with two eye-catching efforts in the second and fifth games of the series in Rawalpindi and Lahore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe left-armer looked at his brilliant best when collecting figures of 3\/13 to help bundle New Zealand out for just 90 in a Player of the Match performance in the second clash of the series and produced an even better game in the final contest of the series as Pakistan squared the series at two wins apiece.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn that decisive game, Shaheen took 4\/30 in another Player of the Match effort and his eight wickets overall for the series ensured he also claimed the Player of the Series award.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, Namibia\u2019s captain, Erasmus, displayed excellent form during last month\u2019s tour of Oman, earning two Player of the Match awards during the five-match T20I series.<\/p>\n<p>Waseem, a powerful right-handed batsman, was in fine form at the ACC Premier Cup, scoring his third T20I century.
