Spice Girl Mel B is releasing an expanded version of her 2018 memoir, sharing more details about her personal life which she hopes will help survivors of domestic abuse.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The British singer and television personality, Mel B, born Melanie Brown, has added three new chapters to her memoir \u2018Brutally Honest\u2019<\/em>, which looked back on her childhood, meteoric rise to fame and marriage to her ex Stephen Belafonte, whom she said had been abusive towards her. He denied the claims.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s now 2024 and a lot has happened since (the book\u2019s release) \u2026 I got my MBE for campaigning and spreading awareness about domestic abuse. I am engaged. I bought my first house and I\u2019ve done a lot of healing with my relationships,\u201d Brown told Reuters.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to give survivors that hope and that honesty that \u2018you know what, I\u2019m going through it too still, just like you are. So don\u2019t give up.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown, a patron of the charity Women\u2019s Aid, became a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2022 for services to charitable causes and vulnerable women.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s given me more of a purpose. It\u2019s like an extension of girl power because I\u2019ve been screaming girl power since I was 19, and then for 10 years I was very girl powerless and now I\u2019m speaking my truth,\u201d she said of her campaigning against domestic abuse.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got \u2026 survivors behind me cheering me on, saying \u2018yes be our voice\u2019 because my story is their story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown, 48, said she originally released her memoir after encouragement from both her daughter and her friend, Louise Gannon, who wrote the book with her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have the platform \u2026 I\u2019m reaching out to people that don\u2019t have a voice, that don\u2019t have a safe place where they can get help or talk about it,\u201d Brown said.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, the Spice Girls \u2013 consisting of Brown (Scary Spice), Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) and Geri Horner, formerly Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) \u2013 shared a video marking 30 years since their first auditions.<\/p>\n

The group, which formed in 1994, stormed charts around the world with hits including \u2018Wannabe\u2019<\/em> and \u2018Say You\u2019ll Be There\u2019<\/em> before going their separate ways. Four of them reunited for a 2019 tour.<\/p>\n

Asked about previously hinting at something new involving all five Spice Girls, Brown said: \u201cI can\u2019t say exactly \u2026, but us five have been talking \u2026 for a long, long time now, many, many months.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, we\u2019re going to announce something soon \u2026 and I know the fans are not going to be disappointed. It\u2019s going to be very exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n
