LAHORE \u2013 The Lahore High Court (LHC) granted permission to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Monis Elahi to contest the by-elections.<\/p>\n

The LHC appellate tribunal declared the Returning Officer\u2019s decision to reject the nomination papers of PTI leader null and void, and accepted Monis Elahi\u2019s nomination papers in its verdict.<\/p>\n

Former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhary Parvez Elahi and his son Monis Elahi filed an appeal against the decision of the Returning Officer to reject their nomination papers for the by-elections in 2024.<\/p>\n

The appellants said that the Returning Officer rejected the nomination papers of both candidates contrary to the facts, alleging that Parvez Elahi\u2019s nomination papers were rejected on charges of concealing assets while Monis Elahi\u2019s nomination papers were rejected due to being convicted by the court.<\/p>\n

The court deemed the Returning Officer\u2019s decision null and void.<\/p>\n

PTI leader Monis Elahi said that for us, it\u2019s not about jail or the FIA, but a different plan has been made.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf Imran Khan gets relief, we will also get relief,\u201d said Moonis Elahi.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cAsImran Khan comes out, there will be possibilities for the return of leaders like me, Hamad Azhar, Murad Saeed, and others because at this time, it\u2019s not about jail or the FIA, but a different plan has been made,\u201d.<\/p>\n

The former federal minister said that more efforts are not being made for Imran Khan\u2019s release.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are also discussing the issue of PTI\u2019s founder\u2019s release with the core committee and the lawyers. Lawyers\u2019 attention should only be on the former Prime Minister\u2019s cases, not on the press conferences, talk shows, and political circles. If attention is paid to Imran Khan\u2019s cases, results will come soon,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
