{"id":75267,"date":"2024-03-25T15:09:05","date_gmt":"2024-03-25T15:09:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/muhammad-aurangzeb-appointed-finmin-to-settle-down-imf-says-ppps-khursheed-shah\/"},"modified":"2024-03-25T15:09:05","modified_gmt":"2024-03-25T15:09:05","slug":"muhammad-aurangzeb-appointed-finmin-to-settle-down-imf-says-ppps-khursheed-shah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/muhammad-aurangzeb-appointed-finmin-to-settle-down-imf-says-ppps-khursheed-shah\/","title":{"rendered":"Muhammad Aurangzeb appointed finmin to \u2018settle down\u2019 IMF, says PPP\u2019s Khursheed Shah"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>PPP leader Khursheed Shah has said that banker Muhammad Aurangzeb was appointed finance minister instead of PML-N\u2019s Ishaq Dar to \u201csettle down\u201d the International Monetary Fund (IMF).<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1820930\">surprise allocation<\/a> of portfolios, Aurangzeb was sworn in as the finance minister earlier this month while Dar was handed the foreign ministry.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview on <em>DawnNewsTV<\/em> programme <em>Doosra Rukh<\/em> on Sunday night, Shah said that it was premature to comment on decisions made by the federal cabinet. \u201cWe should give at least three to six months [\u2026] there is also pressure from the IMF, which the government will have to deal with,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media  w-full  w-full  media--stretch  media--embed  \">\n<p><div class=\"ast-oembed-container \" style=\"height: 100%;\"><iframe title=\"Why Are Questions Being Raised on Government&#039;s Credibility? | Doosra Rukh | Dawn News\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CNSHqizucME?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Shah was then asked whether, in his opinion, the PML-N was compelled by circumstances to appoint Aurangzeb as the finance minister and Mohsin Naqvi as the interior minister.<\/p>\n<p>The PPP leader said that for finance, Dar was the PML-N\u2019s first choice. He further said that in light of the current situation and due to \u201cIMF pressure\u201d, people associated with the Fund were picked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Aurangzeb was appointed to settle down [<em>sic<\/em>] the IMF,\u201d he said. Asked whether the finance minister could achieve this, Shah said: \u201cWhere there is a will, there is a way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He further said that the PPP did not have a say with regard to the federal cabinet.<\/p>\n<p>Shah was then asked about people being appointed to the federal cabinet in an effort to maintain good relations with the military establishment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery government has to maintain good relations with the establishment.
