{"id":71323,"date":"2024-03-15T01:10:04","date_gmt":"2024-03-15T01:10:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/pakistan-slams-indias-controversial-citizenship-law\/"},"modified":"2024-03-15T01:10:04","modified_gmt":"2024-03-15T01:10:04","slug":"pakistan-slams-indias-controversial-citizenship-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/pakistan-slams-indias-controversial-citizenship-law\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan slams India\u2019s \u2018controversial\u2019 citizenship law"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_79\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p><strong>ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday registered a strong protest against India\u2019s controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) was originally passed in 2019 to allow non-Muslim people from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan to seek Indian citizenship to protect them against persecution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe regulation and laws are premised on a false assumption that minorities are being persecuted in Muslim countries of the region and to provide India a fa\u00e7ade of being a safe haven for them,\u201d Pakistan\u2019s state-owned Radio Pakistan quoted foreign office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch as saying during her weekly media briefing.<\/p>\n<p>She maintained the rising wave of Hindutva, a 20th century ideology seeking to establish the hegemony of the Hindu way of life in India, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) government had led to political, economic and social victimization of Muslims and other minorities.<\/p>\n<p>Baloch recalled the international community had taken notice of these developments only a few days ago, asking New Delhi to take corrective actions to protect human rights and prevent attacks against minorities in the lead-up to India\u2019s national elections.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson strongly condemned the Indian decision to declare illegal Kashmir National Front in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
