Dresses with strong silhouettes, sparkles on both women and men and a splash of Barbie-inspired pink dominated the\u00a0Oscars\u00a0red carpet on Sunday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018Anatomy of a Fall\u2019<\/em> best actress nominee Sandra Huller donned a black gown with a dramatic neckline, as did actresses Eva Longoria and Rita Moreno. Cynthia Erivo donned a green gown with large cap sleeves that led to a train down the back. \u201cI\u2019d say the overall trends with black was the number one trend and shimmer and shine,\u201d said Adam Glassman, the creative director at O Magazine.<\/p>\n

\u2018Poor Things\u2019<\/em> best actress nominee Emma Stone wore a light green outfit with a flared, strapless bodice.\"oscars America Ferrera, a Best Supporting Actress nominee for \u2018Barbie\u2019<\/em>, wore a sparkly pink form-fitting gown.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of people went very classic old Hollywood, elegant, sophisticated,\u201d said Glassman. \u201cBecause really most nominees tend to go sophisticated. Presenters have a little bit more fun with colour and design.\u201d\"oscars Midnight Blue was also popular among women, like \u2018Killers of the Flower Moon\u2019<\/em> best actress nominee Lily Gladstone, \u2018Nyad\u2019<\/em> best actress nominee Annette Bening and co-star and best supporting actress nominee Jodie Foster.<\/p>\n

Da\u2019Vine Joy Randolph, who won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in \u2018The Holdovers\u2019<\/em>, wore a sparkly light blue gown with voluminous feathery sleeves.<\/p>\n

Several men also broke with tradition. While many wore the standard black tuxedo, several went in other directions.<\/p>\n

\u2018Rustin\u2019<\/em> best actor nominee Colman Domingo wore a silver button tuxedo, complete with a brooch on his bow tie.\"\" \u2018Barbie\u2019<\/em> Best Supporting Actor nominee Ryan Gosling wore a suit with sparkly trim and no tie. \u2018Maestro\u2019<\/em> best actor nominee Bradley Cooper also skipped the tie, and Dwayne \u2018The Rock\u2019<\/em> Johnson appeared in a teal shiny suit and no tie.<\/p>\n

And a few of the women opted for a pantsuit, like best director nominee Justine Triet for \u2018Anatomy of a Fall\u2019<\/em>, who chose a suit decorated with sparkly lines.<\/p>\n

Another accessory on the carpet was red pins calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, spotted on songwriting siblings Billie Eilish and Finneas O\u2019Connell and actor Mark Ruffalo.<\/p>\n

Members of the Osage Nation, who sang the nominated best song from \u2018Killers of the Flower Moon\u2019<\/em>, came to the Oscars red carpet in colourful tribal dress.<\/p>\n
