RAWALPINDI: Security forces have gunned down 10 terrorists in two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s (KP) North Waziristan district, ARY News reported on Saturday, quoting Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to military\u2019s media wing, the security forces conducted first intelligence-based operation (IBO) on March 8, which in four terrorists were killed.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the follow up sanitisation operation, four more terrorists were killed by the security forces,\u201d the ISPR said in the statement.<\/p>\n

In a separate operation, the security forces picked up movement of five terrorists, who according to the military\u2019s media wing were trying to infiltrate Pakistan-Afghanistan border.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter an intense fire exchange, two terrorists \u2013 identified as Hazrat Umer and Rehman Niaz were killed, while three other terrorists got injured,\u201d the ISPR said.<\/p>\n

\u201cPakistan has consistently been asking interim Afghan government to ensure effective border management on their side of the border,\u201d it said, hoping that the Afghan government \u00a0would fulfill its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for perpetuating acts of terrorism against Pakistan.<\/p>\n

\u201cSecurity forces of Pakistan are determined and remain committed to secure its borders and wipe-out the menace of terrorism from the country,\u201d the statement concluded.<\/p>\n

The operation comes amid a surge in terrorist activities across the country, especially in KP and Balochistan, since the outlawed militant group Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n
