The frock\u2019s voluminous shape is typical of the ballgowns expected on the red carpet at\u00a0Sunday\u2019s Oscars, but Austin, who has dressed celebrities like Angela Bassett and 2024 Oscars nominee Danielle Brooks, anticipates some more modern styles too.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe always have our rule when it comes to the Oscars\u2026 you\u2019re going to get their standard traditional ballgowns\u2026 a lot of long gowns,\u201d she told Reuters.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut honestly\u2026 I believe we\u2019re going to see a lot of pantsuits on women.\u201d<\/p>\n

This awards season has seen celebrities wear styles ranging from ballgown silhouettes to embroidered and see-through dresses.<\/p>\n

The dramatic floor-sweeping gowns have nodded to \u2018real Hollywood glamour\u2019, according to Katie O\u2019Malley, Elle UK site director.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve seen big grand silhouettes come back and a real celebration of design, texture and colour that we haven\u2019t actually seen for a lot of years,\u201d O\u2019Malley told Reuters.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m loving seeing the big trains, the shawls, the opera gloves, there\u2019s a real opulence that\u2019s come back through the awards season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among the celebrities wearing such looks have been Oscar nominees Da\u2019Vine Joy Randolph and Brooks.<\/p>\n

All eyes will be on them as well as best actress nominees including Lily Gladstone, Emma Stone, Carey Mulligan and Sandra Huller on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cCarey Mulligan has shown the sophisticated, chic glamour that you can bring, whether it be an Armani Priv\u00e9 dress or a Dior dress. Emma Stone, as well, has been a real champion of colour,\u201d O\u2019Malley said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLily Gladstone and Sandra Huller\u2026 have just shown what it means to be not only excited by being at an award show\u2026 but also they\u2019re bringing that injection of excitement when it comes with the fashion as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

As a stylist, Austin said she liked \u2018anything that brings movement\u2019 to garments, like sequins and fringes.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re creating fashion moments and texture really helps create that moment,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

As well as classic tuxedos, men\u2019s styles have included evening coats and suits with embellishments. Best actor nominees Colman Domingo and Cillian Murphy have also opted for ribbon bowties.<\/p>\n

Red has been a popular colour of choice as have softer shades \u2013 for both men and women.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re still seeing a lot\u2026 lilacs and pastels and the \u2018Barbie\u2019 pink is still there\u2026 but it\u2019s starting to phase out\u2026 We\u2019re seeing colour roll into the men,\u201d Austin said, adding white had also proved popular for men\u2019s suits.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re seeing a lot of colour blocking now.\u201d<\/p>\n
