SIC MNAs strongly protest against oath-taking of new members elected on reserved seats<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n

ISLAMABAD: Members of Sunni Ittehad Council in the National Assembly on Friday protested against oath taking of four Members of NA elected on reserved seats and termed it the contempt of court.<\/p>\n

Opposition Leader in the NA Umar Ayoob on point of order said that four members\u2019 oath-taking is court of contempt as Peshawar High Court issued a stay order in this regard.<\/p>\n

He further said that he was not allowed to meet the PTI founder lead, who is currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail, adding that whether Jail Superintendent Asad Warraich is above the law as he was not obeying the court\u2019s order.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq administrated the oath to the new members of assembly elected on reserved seats. Against which the SIC members lodged a strong protest in front of the Speaker\u2019s dais. However, the new members also signed the roll of register after taking oath.<\/p>\n

On the point of objection by SIC member, NA speaker said that quorum is complete in the House and announced to continue the session.<\/p>\n

Barrister Gohar Ali Khan also commented in the House and said that 86 members supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf are in the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

The barrister said that the Election Commission had decided on reserved seats on March 4, however,Peshawar High Court had issued a stay order, adding that new members could not take oath.<\/p>\n

A resolution presented in the House by Member of Assembly Sahar Kamran was passed on the occasion of Women\u2019s Day.SIC members protested against presentation of the resolution on the occasion.The resolution paid tribute to former Prime Minister Shaheed Benazir Bhutto on International Women\u2019s Day.The resolution condemned the incidents of harassment and violence against women, called for women\u2019s rights and gender equality and equal opportunities for women in education, health, social security and call for a future where women have equal opportunities to progress.Later, the NA speaker adjourned the session till 2pm March 13.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
