{"id":6797,"date":"2023-09-22T21:25:33","date_gmt":"2023-09-22T21:25:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/nepra-proposes-rs3-28-per-unit-hike-in-tariff-for-oct-march-bills-under-quarterly-adjustment\/"},"modified":"2023-09-22T21:25:33","modified_gmt":"2023-09-22T21:25:33","slug":"nepra-proposes-rs3-28-per-unit-hike-in-tariff-for-oct-march-bills-under-quarterly-adjustment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/nepra-proposes-rs3-28-per-unit-hike-in-tariff-for-oct-march-bills-under-quarterly-adjustment\/","title":{"rendered":"Nepra proposes Rs3.28 per unit hike in tariff for Oct-March bills under quarterly adjustment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Friday proposed a hike in the power tariff by Rs3.2814 per unit for the months of October till March under quarterly adjustment.<\/p>\n<p>A <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link--external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nepra.org.pk\/tariff\/Tariff\/Ex-WAPDA%20DISCOS\/2023\/TRF-100%20XWDISCOS%20PERIODIC%20ADJUSTMENT%20FY%202022-23%2022-09-2023%2033892-94.PDF\">notice<\/a> from the authority said the decision, on requests by ex-Wapda distribution companies (XWDiscos) for periodic adjustment in the tariff for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2022-23, was sent to the federal government for any intimation or action, after which Nepra would notify it.<\/p>\n<p>The decision said Nepra \u201callows the positive quarterly adjustments of Rs135,584 million pertaining to the fourth quarter of the FY2022-23, to be recovered from the consumers of XWDiscos in a period of six months i.e. October 2023 to March 2024\u201d with an additional Rs3.2814 per unit to be charged.<\/p>\n<p>It added that the same terms would apply to K-Electric (KE) consumers as per the federal government\u2019s policy guidelines for the authority to determine the same tariff rationalisation for KE consumers as consumers of XWDiscos with the same application period.<\/p>\n<p>The decision further said the quarterly adjustment would not be passed on to certain categories of industrial cosumers in line with a previous Nepra decision.<\/p>\n<p>Nepra directed the distribution companies to \u201ckeep in view and strictly comply with the orders of the courts\u201d while bringing the quarterly adjustments to effect.<\/p>\n<p>The PTI criticised the proposed increase in the power tariff.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media  sm:w-1\/2  w-full  media--right  media--embed  media--uneven\">\n<p>    <iframe class=\"nk-iframe\" onload=\"setInterval(()=&gt;{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)\" width=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"height:400px;position:relative\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/card\/1773719\" sandbox=\"allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-popups allow-modals allow-forms\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>In July, Nepra had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1764718\">raised the national average tariff<\/a> by around Rs5 per unit, pushing the base unit power tariff from Rs24.82 to Rs29.78.
