Sensing the sensitivity of the issue, some police officials present at the site called in their higher-ups.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, a police team led by ASP Shehrbano engaged the crowd, took the woman into protective custody and shifted her to the police station amid heightened security measures. Later in the day, a video had emerged showing the woman apologising alongside religious scholars.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, the Punjab police chief had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1817349\/blasphemy-situation-asp-recommended-for-police-medal\">recommended<\/a> ASP Naqvi for the Quaid-i-Azam Police Medal (QPM).<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released today, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that ASP Shehrbano had called on the COAS at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media  sm:w-1\/2  w-full  media--right  media--embed  media--uneven\">\n<p>    <iframe class=\"nk-iframe\" onload=\"setInterval(()=&gt;{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)\" width=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"height:400px;position:relative\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/card\/1817507\" sandbox=\"allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-popups allow-modals allow-forms\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe COAS lauded ASP Shehrbano for her selfless devotion to duty and professionalism in diffusing a volatile situation. The fearless officer extricated a woman from the difficult milieu of Ichra Bazaar in Lahore on February 26,\u201d the ISPR said.<\/p>\n<p>The army chief acknowledged the vital role Pakistani women were playing in all walks of life. \u201cSince independence, Pakistani women have distinguished themselves at home and abroad, by their talent, tenacity and commitment,\u201d the statement quoted him as saying.<\/p>\n<p>COAS highlighted that women were an invaluable part of society and their respect was \u201censhrined in our religion as well as our social ethos\u201d.
