In a significant milestone for gender equity in Pakistan\u2019s energy sector, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on Friday organized the successful completion of the Power System and Distribution Network Planning (PSDNP) Training Programme for women engineers.<\/p>\n
The programme designed for engineers from Pakistan\u2019s power distribution and transmission companies, is a collaborative effort between USAID and the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).<\/p>\n
Speaking on the occasion, Mission Director Kate Somvongsiri congratulated the participating women engineers upon successful completion of the programme.<\/p>\n
By equipping these women engineers with specialized training, we not only open new career avenues for the talented individuals but also enhance team engagement, motivation, and decision-making within companies, said she. Expressing satisfaction with the programme\u2019s outcomes, Chairman BOD IESCO\/Chairman BOD MEPCO Raja Qamarul Islam stated, \u201cThrough the PSDNP Training Programme, Pakistani female engineers have gained practical expertise in utilizing two power system planning software applications, ArcGIS and Synergi, provided by USAID. The impact of this initiative extends beyond individual empowerment, as the trained cohort is now equipped to effectively address Pakistan\u2019s future demands in power distribution networks, thereby benefiting the entire energy sector.\u201d<\/p>\n
