The fab four are back, with each member of the iconic Beatles to be immortalized in their own big-screen biopic, all directed by Sam Mendes, Sony Pictures said on Tuesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe project marks the first time [Beatles\u2019 label] Apple Corps Ltd and The Beatles \u2013 Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and the families of John Lennon and George Harrison \u2013 have granted full life story and music rights for a scripted film,\u201d the studio said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe intend this to be a uniquely thrilling and epic cinematic experience: four films, told from four different perspectives which tell a single story about the most celebrated band of all time,\u201d said Pippa Harris, who will codirect alongside Sam Mendes. The films are expected to come out in 2027.<\/p>\n

In April 1970, six months after the release of the \u2018Abbey Road\u2019<\/em> album and a month before \u2018Let It Be\u2019<\/em>, the members of the hit British band announced their separation.<\/p>\n

The ten-year collaboration between McCartney, Lennon, Harrison and Starr resulted in 14 best-selling albums, almost a billion records sold and several films. But since the breakup, the band members\u2019 families had not given their blessing to The Beatles\u2019 story being told on the silver screen.<\/p>\n

Last autumn, with the help of artificial intelligence, a new song, \u2018Now and Then\u2019<\/em> \u2013 originally recorded four decades ago as a demo \u2013 was produced and released, topping the British charts.<\/p>\n

The Beatles have also been the subject of numerous documentaries, such as \u2018The Beatles: Get Back\u2019 <\/em>series directed by Peter Jackson, which shines a positive light on the lead-up to their split. Mendes, whose directorial credits include \u2018American Beauty\u2019<\/em> and James Bond films \u2018Skyfall\u2019<\/em> and \u2018Spectre\u2019<\/em>, said he was \u2018honoured to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time\u2019.<\/p>\n

In recent years, there has been a proliferation of documentaries and biopics on streaming platforms and in cinemas retracing legendary stories from the world of music.<\/p>\n

\u2018Bohemian Rhapsody\u2019<\/em> tells the story of Queen, while \u2018Elvis\u2019<\/em> chronicles Elvis Presley\u2019s tumultuous life, \u2018Tina\u2019<\/em> immortalises Tina Turner and \u2018Rocketman\u2019<\/em> recounts how Elton John conquered the world of pop.<\/p>\n
