Speakers at a seminar organised to mark the International Mother Language Day on Wednesday called for the inclusion of the Punjabi language in the curriculum.<\/span><\/p>\n

Well-known Punjabi poet Bashir Najmi and singer Ustad Sajjad Bari were among the guests.<\/span><\/p>\n

The poet said on the occasion that the Punjabi language is reflective of the rich culture of Punjab. <\/span><\/p>\n

If steps are not taken to protect it, it is likely to become extinct like various other languages of the world, he warned. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWherever we live in any region of the world, we should strive for the promotion of our language as well as its protection. Instead of feeling ashamed of using the Punjabi language, we should feel proud,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sajjad Bari presented famous and classical Punjabi poetry.<\/span><\/p>\n

The organiser of eh event, Unique Group of Institutions Chairman Professor Abdul Manan Khurram, told the audience that Punjabi is an ancient language and important steps are needed for its promotion. <\/span><\/p>\n

He said thinkers around the world agree that what is taught in the mother tongue has an impact.<\/span><\/p>\n

A large number of teachers and students were present on the occasion.<\/span><\/p>\n
