{"id":63064,"date":"2024-02-22T09:12:43","date_gmt":"2024-02-22T09:12:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/maryam-nawaz-unveils-development-game-plan-for-punjab\/"},"modified":"2024-02-22T09:12:43","modified_gmt":"2024-02-22T09:12:43","slug":"maryam-nawaz-unveils-development-game-plan-for-punjab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/maryam-nawaz-unveils-development-game-plan-for-punjab\/","title":{"rendered":"Maryam Nawaz unveils development game plan for Punjab"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>LAHORE: PML-N candidate for Punjab chief minister Maryam Nawaz on Wed\u00adnesday described corruption and politically-motivated vandalism as the \u2018red lines\u2019 that her government would never allow anyone to cross.<\/p>\n<p>While presiding over a parliamentary meeting of her party at Jati Umra residence, Ms Nawaz pledged a new era of development in Punjab, vowing to deliver on every front, especially in the health, education and IT sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Nawaz will be the first woman chief minister, after securing a majority vote in Punjab Assembly in coming days.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media  sm:w-1\/2  w-full  media--right  media--embed  media--uneven\">\n<p>    <iframe class=\"nk-iframe\" onload=\"setInterval(()=&gt;{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)\" width=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"height:400px;position:relative\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/card\/1815107\" sandbox=\"allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-popups allow-modals allow-forms\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>She expressed her gratitude for the mandate her party had been given by the people of Punjab, but said five years were not enough to address the massive challenges being faced in the country.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"blockquote-level-1\">\n<p>Says corruption and politically motivated vandalism are red lines for her would-be govt<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Unveiling her game plan, the PML-N leader, daughter of ex-premier and party supremo Nawaz Sharif, vowed to make five IT cities in Punjab. \u201cWe will also bring foreign investment and give interest-free loans to the youth to launch their IT projects,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>In the health sector, she said her government would address the shortage of nurses and build training institutes for them. She would reintroduce health cards for free treatment of the poor and ensure \u201cheart, kidney and liver treatment at all [major] hospitals\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She said government schools would be run on a public-private partnership basis. She vowed that she would try her best to ensure that all out-of-school children be brought back to schools.<\/p>\n<p>She said Rescue \u20181122\u2019 service would be launched on motorways. Also, more Safe City projects would be established in the province, she added.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman has said he will summon the Punjab Assembly session upon receiving its requisition.
