diplomatic row sparked by Ottowa\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1776704\/indian-envoy-expelled-as-trudeau-links-delhi-to-sikh-leaders-death\">accusation<\/a> New Delhi was involved in the killing of a Sikh separatist near Vancouver.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cImportant notice from Indian mission: Due to operational reasons, with effect from September 21, 2023, Indian visa services have been suspended till further notice,\u201d BLS International posted on their <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link--external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.blsinternational.com\/#\">website<\/a> on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Canada\u2019s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has demanded India treat with \u201cutmost seriousness\u201d allegations that Indian agents played a role in the June murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.<\/p>\n<p>The fallout prompted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1776725\">tit-for-tat diplomatic expulsions<\/a> and a forceful denial from India, which said any suggestion it played a role in Nijjar\u2019s killing was \u201cabsurd\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The suspension of visas comes a day after India\u2019s foreign ministry <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1776905\">said<\/a> it was concerned for the safety of its citizens in Canada because of \u201cpolitically-condoned hate crimes and criminal violence\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThreats have particularly targeted Indian diplomats and sections of the Indian community who oppose the anti-India agenda,\u201d a ministry statement said pn Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndian nationals are therefore advised to avoid travelling to regions and potential venues in Canada that have seen such incidents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The advisory did not name specific cities or locations for Indians to avoid.<\/p>\n<p>Nijjar was shot dead by two masked assailants outside the Sikh temple he presided over in Surrey, an outer suburb of Vancouver.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media  sm:w-1\/2  w-full  media--right  media--embed  media--uneven\">\n<p>    <iframe class=\"nk-iframe\" onload=\"setInterval(()=&gt;{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)\" width=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allow-forms\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>An activist for the creation of a Sikh state known as Khalistan, Nijjar was wanted by Indian authorities for alleged terrorism and conspiracy to commit murder.<\/p>\n<p>He had denied those charges, according to the World Sikh Organisation of Canada, a nonprofit organisation that says it defends the interests of Canadian Sikhs.<\/p>\n<p>The Indian government accuses Ottawa of turning a blind eye to the activities of radical Sikh nationalists who advocate the creation of an independent Sikh state to be carved out of northern India.<\/p>\n<h2><a diplomats in India after threats on social media against staff, as the diplomatic row with New Delhi escalates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn light of the current environment where tensions have heightened, we are taking action to ensure the safety of our diplomats,\u201d Canada\u2019s mission said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith some diplomats having received threats on various social media platforms, Global Affairs Canada is assessing its staff complement in India,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result, and out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to temporarily adjust staff presence
