{"id":62720,"date":"2024-02-21T11:49:31","date_gmt":"2024-02-21T11:49:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/russian-court-to-hear-case-brought-by-navalnys-mother\/"},"modified":"2024-02-21T11:49:31","modified_gmt":"2024-02-21T11:49:31","slug":"russian-court-to-hear-case-brought-by-navalnys-mother","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/russian-court-to-hear-case-brought-by-navalnys-mother\/","title":{"rendered":"Russian court to hear case brought by Navalny\u2019s mother"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>A court in the Russian Far North will next month hear a case brought by the mother of dead opposition leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1814921\">Alexei Navalny<\/a>, who has been prevented from seeing his body, his allies said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Lyudmila Navalnaya has travelled to the remote IK-3 prison where her son <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1814737\">died<\/a>, but since Saturday, when she arrived, she has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1815885\/navalnys-mother-asks-putin-to-release-his-body\">prevented<\/a> from seeing his body.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, she appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin for the release of her son\u2019s body.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>TASS<\/em> news agency reported the court had received a complaint on \u201cillegal acts\u201d and that the hearing would take place behind closed doors.<\/p>\n<p>Navalny\u2019s team said on social media the court in the Arctic city of Salekhard would consider the case on March 4 \u2014 more than two weeks after Putin\u2019s opponent died.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media  sm:w-1\/2  w-full  media--right  media--embed  media--uneven\">\n<p>    <iframe class=\"nk-iframe\" onload=\"setInterval(()=&gt;{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)\" width=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"height:400px;position:relative\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/card\/1815499\" sandbox=\"allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-popups allow-modals allow-forms\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>On Tuesday, Lyudmila Navalnaya broke her silence on her son\u2019s death, calling on Putin to let her see her son\u2019s body in a video address.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI appeal to you, Vladimir Putin. The solution to the issue depends only on you,\u201d she said. \u201cLet me finally see my son. I demand that Alexei\u2019s body be released immediately so that I can bury him in a humane way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Navalny\u2019s widow Yulia Navalnaya echoed the call, demanding authorities allow for him to be \u201cburied with dignity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Putin has not commented or responded.
