ISLAMABAD: A plea has been filed with the Supreme Court (SC) against the alleged rigging during the 2024 general elections.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As per details, the plea was moved by citizen Mian Shabbir Ahmed through his lawyer Azhar Siddique with the Supreme Court\u2019s Lahore registry, seeking a judicial commission to probe the rigging allegations.<\/p>\n

It contends that widespread \u2018rigging\u2019 occurred throughout the country during the recent general elections.<\/p>\n

The petition emphasizes that an inquiry into the alleged fraud be conducted in light of upholding the fundamental rights of citizens.<\/p>\n

On Monday, the Supreme Court\u2019s principal seat in Islamabad heard an earlier petition filed against the alleged rigging in elections. The petitioner, Ali Khan, however, did not turn up during the hearing and applied to withdraw his petition.<\/p>\n

A bench headed by CJP Justice Qazi Faez Isa and comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Musarrat Hilali took up the case.<\/p>\n

\u201cSuch a prank cannot be played on the Supreme Court. Bring the petitioner from wherever and present him before the court,\u201d Justice Isa remarked, adding that the bench would hear the petition.<\/p>\n

The further hearing on the plea was adjourned until February 21 after issuing notice to the plaintiff via defense ministry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
