Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers<\/a> called on the Scottish champions to improve their mental approach after they conceded a stoppage-time equaliser in a 1-1 draw at home to Kilmarnock that damaged their hopes of a successful title defence.<\/p>\n

Japan star Kyogo Furuhashi’s 33rd-minute header looked as if it might give Celtic all three points in front of their Parkhead faithful.<\/p>\n

But David Watson’s header from a corner secured a share of the spoils for Kilmarnock.<\/p>\n

The draw took Celtic<\/a> a point clear of Glasgow arch-rivals Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.<\/p>\n

Rangers can regain first place when they go in search of a sixth successive league win away to St Johnstone on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Hoops boss Rodgers made no attempt to hide his frustration, saying: “We lacked authority on the ball, we lacked composure, all the things you need to do to control the game.<\/p>\n

“We looked nervous on the ball and, especially second half, we created nowhere near what we would want to.<\/p>\n

“It’s happened too many times over the course of the season. We have played well in spells but then when we haven’t taken our chances and a wee bit of anxiety creeps in, you have to be able to deal with that pressure.”<\/p>\n

The Northern Irishman, whose side have already lost twice to Killie this season, added: “It is not about ability or technique now, it is about mentality. It is about not letting that man go past you and having that drive and composure to play.<\/p>\n

“We saw it the second half, even though we were not under great pressure we kept making it hard for ourselves.”<\/p>\n

Rodgers insisted Rangers’ recent form — they were seven points behind when manager Philippe Clement took over eight games into the season — had played no part in Celtic’s troubles.<\/p>\n

“Irrespective of how Rangers play or work, it’s nothing to do with us,” he said, adding: “It’s now about the mind game. Physically and technically you’re in a good place so it’s all about the mind now.”<\/p>\n

Hearts strengthened their hold on third with a 2-0 win at home to Motherwell secured by second-half goals from Lawrence Shankland and Kenneth Vargas.<\/p>\n

The Edinburgh side are 14 points clear of fourth-placed Kilmarnock.<\/p>\n

Basement club Livingston enjoyed just their third league win of the season, 1-0 over St Mirren after Tete Yengi scored in first-half stoppage time. St Mirren, however, missed a late penalty through Mikael Mandron.<\/p>\n

Livingston are within three points of second-bottom Ross County, beaten 2-0 by Dundee on Saturday with Scott Tiffoney scoring both goals.<\/p>\n

Veteran English manager Neil Warnock was still looking for his first league win as Aberdeen boss after a 2-2 draw at home to Hibernian.<\/p>\n

Hibernian, bidding for a first league win since December 9, went ahead through Martin Boyle in the 13th minute only for Nicky Devlin to equalise shortly afterwards.<\/p>\n

Jamie McGrath restored hosts Aberdeen’s lead in the 51st minute at Pittodrie but visitors Hibernian hit back 16 minutes later through Emiliano Marcondes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
