Ishaq Dar, a senior leader within the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and former finance minister, hinted at a significant development expected in talks between the coordination committees of his party and the PPP on Monday.<\/p>\n

Dar, who also heads the PML-N coordination committee, indicated that the upcoming meeting, marking the fifth encounter between the two parties, could lead to a breakthrough, although he refrained from divulging specifics.<\/p>\n

“Consultation on various proposals was underway till yesterday,” Dar stated in a post shared by PML-N on X, suggesting ongoing deliberations between the parties. He further remarked that while progress had been made, both sides had yet to finalise key points of agreement.<\/p>\n

“We are working towards consensus on critical issues,” Dar affirmed, underlining the parties’ efforts to forge a joint declaration regarding the composition of the next government at the federal level.<\/p>\n

The statement comes as both parties were unable to reach an agreement on government formation, despite their third meeting held on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Both parties had decided to continue talks on Monday in an effort to break the deadlock.<\/p>\n

A joint declaration issued after the coordination committees of both parties met in Islamabad stated that detailed discussions took place regarding government formation.<\/p>\n

It added that significant progress was made on various issues; however, the two sides concluded the meeting without a final resolution.<\/p>\n

“The proposals put forth by both parties were thoroughly discussed, and while substantial progress was achieved, further deliberations are required to finalise the matters at hand,” the joint statement read.<\/p>\n

Emphasising the importance of a robust democratic government for Pakistan’s stability, the committee members concurred on the necessity of reaching a consensus.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the PPP said it would support the PML-N to form a minority government at the Centre, ending a stalemate after inconclusive elections.<\/p>\n

A PML-N spokesperson later said that the party had nominated Shehbaz Sharif for the post of prime minister.<\/p>\n
