ISLAMABAD \u2013 Authorities in Pakistan\u2019s capital imposed section 144 restricting gatherings amid calls for protests in the post-election crisis.<\/p>\n

Islamabad police spokesperson said peaceful protest is a fundamental right of all citizens and parties, but any illegal act will not be allowed in ICT.<\/p>\n

Police further warned of legal action against those who would resort to violence.<\/p>\n

The development comes as political parties announced protests against alleged rigging in elections 2024.<\/p>\n

A large number of protesters blocked highways and continued a daylong strike to demonstrate against the results of general election, with tensions high amid claims of alleged rigging.<\/p>\n

Imran Khan-backed PTI candidates bagged most seats in elections, securing 95 of 264 seats while PML-N came second.<\/p>\n

Amid tricky talks, controversy persists over allegations of vote rigging. Imran Khan\u2019s party is also protesting that party key leaders were charged ahead of the vote.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, political bigwigs are flocking to form a coalition government.<\/p>\n
