The PTI raised concerns on Thursday upon a report surfacing about a deterioration in the health of party founder Imran Khan\u2019s spouse, Bushra Bibi, and called for her urgent medical inspection.<\/p>\n
Bushra Bibi is currently incarcerated in the couple\u2019s Banigala residence, which was declared a sub-jail for her, after their conviction and sentencing in the Toshakhana case.<\/p>\n
Earlier today, Bushra Bibi spokesperson and PTI lawyer Mashal Yousufzai posted on social media platform X that the former first lady met her family, Imran\u2019s sister and the PTI legal team.<\/p>\n
\u201cBushra Bibi has made a horrifying revelation today that she has been given something like acid in her food, which has caused her immense pain for the past five days.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe said it feels like her stomach is on fire, and she has severe sores in her mouth and throat, making it difficult for her to eat anything except dry toast dipped in tea or water. She was in severe agony.,\u201d Yousufzai said.<\/p>\n
She warned that there was a \u201cserious threat\u201d to Bushra Bibi\u2019s life and urged that she be medically inspected as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
In a separate post on X, PTI\u2019s official handle said the \u201cfascist regime\u201d had stooped so low that it resorted to \u201cmaliciously attacking\u201d Imran\u2019s wife and denying her medical aid.<\/p>\n
\u201cMake no mistake, it will not be long before the people responsible for these heinous acts will be brought to justice,\u201d the post added. \u201cPakistan stands strong. Imran Khan stands strong.\u201d<\/p>\n
The party also called on the higher courts to intervene in the matter.<\/p>\n
PTI Senator Faisal Javed called on the party\u2019s core committee to take notice of the matter.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, PTI social media head Jibran Ilyas said it was extremely worrying that Bushra Bibi was given something to eat that adversely affected her health.<\/p>\n
\u201cFull medical checkup has been demanded,\u201d he added. \u201cMandate thieves need to respect women of our country and not stoop to the point of no return.\u201d<\/p>\n
Imran and Bushra Bibi were sentenced<\/a> to 14 years in jail in the Toshakhana reference last month on charges of retaining expensive jewellery after paying a nominal price. Two days later, the two were also convicted<\/a> and given a seven-year sentence for \u201ccontracting marriage during the \u2018Iddat\u2019 (period of waiting)\u201d.<\/p>\n While the PTI founder has remained incarcerated at Adiala Jail, the government, in a late-night notification on January 31, turned Imran\u2019s Banigala residence into a sub-jail for Bushra at the request of the jail superintendent.<\/p>\n The Islamabad police were also informed abo\u00adut deployment outside the sub-jail and directed to ensure the sec\u00adurity of the convict, while prison officials would be deployed inside the sub-jail.<\/p>\n
